Ionami Design Case Study

Challenge

Ionami is a full-service web design and development company, based in San Francisco. The company specializes in the design and creation of effective marketing and communications websites. Recently, Ionami has expanded their services to include more ecommerce and database driven site development. They have added staff and are taking on more complex projects. Ionami management found that the simple team, client and project management systems they had used in the past were leading to project cost overruns and low team morale. Ionami hired PureProject Group Principal Debbie Lefkowitz to provide project management training and assist with implementation of new systems that would improve morale and save money.

Execution

Debbie led five Workshops in Requirements and Risk Management, Budgeting, Scheduling and Team and Client Management. Each Workshop was designed to meet Ionami's specific needs. Debbie used current Ionami projects to teach team members basic project management tools and techniques. The workshops also included templates and materials the Ionami team could put to immediate use. Debbie also worked with the company CEO to assess the company's rate structure and improve their project scheduling techniques.

Debbie also worked with Ionami to integrate the new project, client and team management processes into company operations. She continues to meet with the company regularly to assess and fine tune their new processes.

Results

Using Debbie's project management training and her simple tools and techniques, Ionami has implemented new client and team status reporting systems. All projects are now subject to rigorous requirements management and risk management processes, and the company applies a simple, but effective communication management system on all projects.
